Although most of our clients are seniors, we provide our caregiving services to clients OF ALL AGES. In addition to helping older clients to continue living at home, we also provide care for people of any age who have disabilities or who are recovering from surgery, illness or injury. We also provide our services to infants and children.
We have caring, compassionate, experienced caregivers. They have passed rigorous background checks and have met high standards. When we assign a caregiver to a case, we carefully match the caregiver to the client to provide the best possible service. Our caregivers are employees of ElderCare, so they are bonded, and are covered by workers comp, covered by liability insurance. We pay all payroll taxes.

We can help assess needs and develop a plan of care. We understand families' needs for consultation and support, recognizing that every situation is different. Our services are personalized to meet the special needs of each client.
Jean Gay Mussleman, President - When Jean Gay's 92-year-old father broke his hip and suffered a massive stroke, she was unable to secure the experienced, reliable caregivers required for him to continue living at home. Sadly, he died in a nursing home six months later. In grief and frustration, she sat down and wrote a business plan for a company that could provide such a service. In 1996, in response to the un-met need that she experienced, Jean Gay founded ElderCare Services. Even though it was too late to help her own father, ElderCare has provided care and comfort to thousands of Shoals citizens. She has been a member of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers.
She was the first woman elected to the Florence City Council. She is active in church and community. She worked for 20 years as a Social Worker in Florence City Schools. She is the author of two published books, Potluck, Postscripts & Potpourri and Cantankerous Bulldogs & Unherdable Cats. She is the proud mother of five children and eleven grandchildren.
Dee Mussleman, Vice President - Dee has been with ElderCare since its inception. He is an active, long-standing member of the Home Care Association of America (HCAOA). He regularly attends HCAOA conferences to stay current on the latest trends and advances in non-medical home care. He has lobbied in Washington D.C. to support and protect the employees and clients not only of ElderCare Services, but also those of home care agencies across the nation. He has served on the non-profit boards of the Coalition of Alzheimer's and Related Disorders of Northwest Alabama (C.A.R.D), Hospice of the Shoals and Rolling Riders Therapeutic Horseback Riding Program (for disabled children)
ElderCare is a family-owned company founded by Jean Gay Mussleman in 1996 to provide non-medical home care, personal care, companionship and household assistance to Senior Citizens and others in the Shoals area. We are not a franchise.
