Q: What services do you provide?
A: We offer two different services currently.
*Non-medical in-home personal care – this includes bathing, dressing, grooming,
personal hygiene, transferring and ambulating, medication reminders and meal preparation.
We can also do laundry and light housekeeping in specific areas of the house. We provide
transportation to appointments, and, of course, companionship.
*Geriatric care management – this is a professional service that includes consultation with families who are wanting to know what their options are for aging loved one. This service includes case management and this can be valuable for families that live too far away to be available when they are needed.
Q: Do you provide care in hospitals, assisted living facilities, rehab centers and nursing homes?
A: Yes, with the consent of the care facility, we can provide care for you or your loved one wherever you are.
Q: Do you provide services for those who suffer from Dementia or Alzheimer’s?
A: Yes, of course. We are experienced in dealing with special needs at a compassionate level.
Q: Can I deduct the cost of ElderCare’s services on my income tax?
A: The portion of our services that involves personal healthcare can possibly be used as an itemized deductible medical expense. Please make sure you consult with your tax preparer regarding your financial situation.
Q: Are you a maid service?
A: No, we are a healthcare service, but we can help with light housekeeping, laundry and cooking.
Q: Are your caregivers screened and bonded?
A: Yes, our experienced and compassionate caregivers have been carefully screened and have passed rigorous background checks. They are also bonded and covered by liability insurance and worker’s compensation as well.
Q: What if my regular caregiver can’t come?
A: We will offer you a backup caregiver to take their place.
Q: Do I pay the caregiver directly?
A: No. Caregivers at ElderCare Services are W-2 employees and receive a weekly paycheck with all required payroll taxes withheld. You will receive a bill from us at the end of each month.
Q: Who pays for your services?
A: Services are paid for by the client. If covered, they may also be paid with Long Term Care insurance or VA benefits. Medicare does not cover the cost of non-medical home care.
Q: What is your service area?
A: We provide our services in Lauderdale and Colbert Counties in northwest Alabama. Some of the towns we serve are Florence, Killen, Muscle Shoals, Sheffield and Tuscumbia.
Q: What hours are services available and how much does it cost?
A: We provide care for anywhere from 4 hours up to 24 hours a day. Hourly fees,
as well as scheduling and other details are discussed on a case by case basis.

Q: Who owns ElderCare Services?
A: ElderCare is family-owned by the mother/son team of Jean Gay Mussleman and Dee Mussleman.

A: Since 1996.
Q: Am I required to make a deposit or pay upfront before starting service?
A: No, we have never required any kind of payment before we begin our service. We send an invioice to you each month.
